And it seems we all forget what it was like to be young, make some noise and have a good time...

Besides making the dogs bark, and making you open your eyes - did it hurt you?

No worse than roaring V8s, loud bikes, trucks rumbling by, trains rolling past etc...

We are all getting ****ing soft!

I haven't forgotten what it was like to be young at all,,,
It's just I was bought up to have some respect towards others, manners, empathy and general respect for the law.
And yes, it did hurt me waking up at two and three in the morning. Already running on a lack of sleep because of a bad back, I could have done with a better length of sleep. If I had then had an accident due to fatigue,, who's problem is it then??

So, as originally said, I'm over it.
If you think so highly of the *******,, feel free to have them over your way, with my eternal gratitude cause I'll then have a good sleep

All good... We've got them around here too

They set them off, dogs go nuts, we wake up...

Settle dogs, go back to sleep...

Few and far between when you think about it most of the time...

And we are a household of shift workers... So sleep is premium.

If you were a quiet, law abiding youngster then you were one of a rare minority.

Perhaps, like us all back then, you thought you were being quiet

    Never had a loud car?

Just to revisit the reasons for the banning of the sale of fireworks: Scores injured by Philippines fireworks - (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Also for the last 2 weeks, people in the neighbourhood have been randomingly letting off fireworks every night and it continues to between 1am and 2am each night.

I bought a house away from the rail lines, aeroplanes have difficulty coming anywhere near my house (too close to the International terminal) and trucks and loud motorbikes don't make the dogs bark. My V8 Rover however does make the dogs bark, but just because its me coming home, they stop as soon as I open the door and its not at 2am

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Obviously not often enough to annoy you.

They set them off, dogs go nuts, we wake up...

Settle dogs, go back to sleep...

Lucky you,, you can go straight back to sleep obviously.

Few and far between when you think about it most of the time...

Been there and done that,, for almost 20 years.

If you were a quiet, law abiding youngster then you were one of a rare minority.

Myself and my mates were pretty much all the same,, it's a respect thing, and not very law abiding some would say.

Perhaps, like us all back then, you thought you were being quiet

We were being quiet,, it's still a respect thing.

    Never had a loud car?

My cars were always loud,, V8's,, it still remains a respect thing.
Regardless of what we did after hours,, and we were by no means "good boys", we still had respect for those that had to get sleep so they could get their arses out of bed to go to work.

It's a bit like going camping with a largish group of people, I have a habit, as a few on here will testify, of staying up late, but when we do, we have respect for those that need to hit the sack early, and keep the noise down, so they can sleep.
    How hard is it??

I agree with you for 2am and if happening every night, but fireworks are only 1 source of disturbance and as illegal in most areas easily picked on. We see them occasionally here but usually latest is around 2200pm so ok most times. But there are many more things that cause annoyance and lack of sleep around here including loud cars (not just V8s which usually are not too bad, the pop pop of subarus is most annoying, loud diesesls), noisy bikes, dogs barking, loud parties (way more prevelant than fireworks), sirens, car alarms, loud voices, loud car stereos etc etc, should we not be treating these the same???

Demand compensation from the owner. Perhaps in the form of his 101, not that you need another

Crucifixion? One cross each, line on the left.

There's validity in both sides of the argument here.
Yes, we're all young once (in the case of you old buggers, I still am ) and we do silly things. Inconsiderate things, at times.
But going mental at 2am with fireworks is just being a ****, plain and simple.
Even in my slightly more aggressive younger days, at the height of my don't give a **** attitude (Still getting over that I wouldn't have done that.

Yep, we get some of that stuff too, and basically it boils down to the same thing,,, respect of others,, empathy for those around you.
It doesn't really matter what the actual affliction is, it all comes down to the same thing.
I for one love seeing fireworks in action,, I'm looking forward to NY, standing down on the beach front seeing it all play out around the bay. And that'll be at midnight,, then there will be the 45min trip home. But it's a major event, that's well advertised, and accepted by the general public, and me even

You know, the really stupid thing about what these fools do, when they do it,, they're too busy running away after lighting them, that they don't even get the pleasure of seeing them go off, so therefore, it's just all about annoying people around them.
