This forum never ceases to amaze.
The thread started of about legal pot and, within a page, is talking about unmarried couples.
Are the two related?
Must be.

ok point misconstrued and then accepted.....
nearly all their values are different.
I've followed the debate in the Dope legislation and am glad it's happening 'over there', because it's going to bite them in the toosh!
The argument of removing the profits from crime figures is nice, as is the redistribution of that money to social needs, but the stuff is proven to affect the brain. They'll have stoned drivers, disinterested employees, teachers, medical staff, greater mental health needs, unborn kids with dramas.... i know people will say, 'i've smoked (used) it for X years and never hurt me', but theres a bucketload more that it has affected.
Prohibition may not ever work, but you don't just give up.
By the way, I love America but this is a stupid move.

Before about 1940, hemp was not illegal anywhere and strangely enough the World didn't come to an end. The only reason the US Senate made it illegal was because Dupont had invented nylon and nylon ropes were more expensive and not as good as hemp ropes. Pressure on the Senate suddenly created a concern for the "health" of US citizens by the Govt and so Dupont suddenly had a near monopoly on rope supply to the US merchant and Navy fleet. When the US entered the war there was of course a shortage of rope and surprisingly hemp suddenly became non-harmful and farmers were legally allowed to grow it again, for the duration of the war! Such hypocrisy, and most probably corruption, is what the US is all about.
You are dead right that prohibition doesn't work, that has been proved countless times around the World!
I don't advocate smoking hemp and I never will, but if Govts around the World really care about the health of their citizens, why is alcohol still legal? Ah; that's right the US tried prohibition on that and failed miserably.
Anyway, who is "giving up" on the subject? The Govt of Colorado, like the Govt of the Netherlands, will overnight eliminate criminal trade in hemp. Along with that comes the opportunity to educate smokers in the harmful effects of smoking it, just as responsible Govts have educated us about tobacco use and drinking alcohol.
Those who say prohibition is the only way to go, are really advocating that criminal gangs should keep growing the stuff and keep making huge profits. Where would you rather our citizens bought their drugs from - known, legal, Govt-controlled safe-sources; or from criminals who could be peddling anything?
I know what I prefer,
Cheers Charlie
Going to ban Alcohol, Tobacco, and Keeping up with the Kardashians while you're at it?
Obviously you don't just open a warehouse with a big ol' pile a' weed inside and tell the greater unwashed public to go nuts and not expect any repercussions.
If you can throw the book at someone for drink driving, do the same for stoned driving.
Yes, there will be issues with it, but I think it's still a better move to legalise it, and control and regulate the sale and production of it and make a motza.
Just my opinion of course![]()
