Aunty ABC, how un-Australian, dobbing on people.

News limited would never do that!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

IMHO the "Biggy" is probably more that the ABC is prepared to get stuck into a union for a change... NOT that a union is full of dodgy dealings!!!

It almost seems like the change of paymaster is starting to force a little more balance in their usually biased business and political reporting (and editorial) standards. Now let's bring on the big name pay cuts and station budget reviews and see if they all (taxpayer funded broadcasters) can't get back to a completely neutral, celebrity free, reporting position.

Slash and burn, Joe Hockey... Slash and burn!!!

The ABC have normally been pretty even handed, they just appear to be harder on certain issues as they don't have to worry about ad revenue And owners other interests being impacted.
As to the CFMEU if their letting crims rip off members , they should throw the book at them and bar them or any associates from being re-elected .

they did this once before and the claims were found to be false if my memory serves me rightly...

lets see how they go this time round...

contrary to the murdoch imposed view, i personally find the abc fairly even handed on the vast majority of issues.. although there is no denying there is a definite lean to the bleeding heart edge on social issues.

but i tend to read a few to try and get a balanced view of the world

    abc
    al jazeera
    debkafile
    xinhua
    bbc
    the guardian
    jakata post
    brisbane times
and what little you can get from murdoch for free

How old are you? Can you remember the ABC in the 1950's when it strictly toed the Menzies line. There was even a student song "There'll always be a Menzies" in which one line was "while Sir Richard Boyer rules the faithful ABC".

It is good to have a media organisation like the current ABC which is even handed and gives a different point of view to the rabidly right wing Tory press controlled by Murdoch.

Yep, compared with the ABC, the Murdoch media, particularly The Australian, is so far to the Right that it's basically acting as the public relations wing of the Liberal National Party.
For example, last Saturday's Weekend Australian: the first five pages were just wall to wall pro-Abbott stories, with each stories slanted to favour the LNP and ignore anything different. Their staff writers were all 100% pro-Abbott, who of course used to be an opinion-writer with The Australian, so its not surprising they would make no pretence of being even-handed..
Compared with that, the ABC is pretty even-handed, with a lot of effort made to get opposing views out there for people to consider.
For example, when they reported the allegations about boat people claiming to have been burned, they made it clear they were reporting the statements of the Indonesian police, who had reported the allegations to the UN, and that the allegations were to be investigated to see if they were true. The Murdoch media said the allegations should not have been reported, which is saying that we the people of Australian should not have been told that it had been alleged our military had mistreated unarmed civilians. Seriously? That's an important issue, true or false, and we should know it has been claimed.
I've stopped buying the News Limited papers. Why would I pay for propaganda when there are plenty of other sources, as Incisor noted?
For example, I recommend The Conversation, which is a free site on which academics from the leading unis. write columns about newsworthy issues in their field of expertise. Agree or disagree, the columns are usually interesting. Another good paid site is Crikey.
The internet is setting readers free from being dictated to by the media moguls, and that's a good thing.
