Getting back to the topic at hand....................if you are unfortunate enough to work in the commercial building game (a la me ) this is not news.

I hope, prey, beg that this time something will be done............but then I'm a pessimist so I expect a lot of noise and then zip.

No I expect a total over-reaction, rather than charge the crims and elect clean leaders I see certain premiers using it as an excuse to ban unions ala Joh
This is how you get cheaper labour, reduce OHSE costs and as you already have those bikie laws , anytime a group of workers gather to protest , their illegal outlaws and can be arrested and locked up for extended periods. The cops will be ordered to jail anyone wearing CFMEU, AWU, MUA, ETU, AMWU, HSU etc logos in public.

This will be an excuse for having a royal commission to generate lots of anti union headlines at a cost of $40 m plus, and then it will be handed over to the police anyway, which is what has to happen, just as was done with the HSU.

These militant unions put a bad slant on the rest (who I am sure do great work) and denigrate the Eureka Flag. I really wish they would take their hands off that one. I love the real story of Lalor and the stockade... It pains me when I see corrupt, bully boy, ratbags using it to try and align themselves with that event.

Yep, compared with the ABC, the Murdoch media, particularly The Australian, is so far to the Right that it's basically acting as the public relations wing of the Liberal National Party.
For example, last Saturday's Weekend Australian: the first five pages were just wall to wall pro-Abbott stories, with each stories slanted to favour the LNP and ignore anything different. Their staff writers were all 100% pro-Abbott, who of course used to be an opinion-writer with The Australian, so its not surprising they would make no pretence of being even-handed..
Compared with that, the ABC is pretty even-handed, with a lot of effort made to get opposing views out there for people to consider.
For example, when they reported the allegations about boat people claiming to have been burned, they made it clear they were reporting the statements of the Indonesian police, who had reported the allegations to the UN, and that the allegations were to be investigated to see if they were true. The Murdoch media said the allegations should not have been reported, which is saying that we the people of Australian should not have been told that it had been alleged our military had mistreated unarmed civilians. Seriously? That's an important issue, true or false, and we should know it has been claimed.
I've stopped buying the News Limited papers. Why would I pay for propaganda when there are plenty of other sources, as Incisor noted?
For example, I recommend The Conversation, which is a free site on which academics from the leading unis. write columns about newsworthy issues in their field of expertise. Agree or disagree, the columns are usually interesting. Another good paid site is Crikey.
The internet is setting readers free from being dictated to by the media moguls, and that's a good thing.
That's not my general experience of the Australian. I know I've seen more than enough articles in recent times critical of Abbott and his government, both form staff writers and quests. One of those regulars is Craig Emerson, certainly not pro-Liberal in any way. Might also be worth remembering that whileThe Australian was happy to take a big stick to the Rudd & Gillard governments, it was also the Australian that took a lead role in the AWB investigation, and the Courier Mail played a big part in exposing the corruption in the QLD National government many moons ago.

Of course, if you're looking for good, unbiased, even and balanced opinion articles, look no further than Mungo MacCallum on the ABC site

The truth is in the fine print. Murdoch was angry sky did not get the international licence and it doesn't matter what articles ABC. Run ,the coalition must pay their master.
The abc could run 99 out of 100 anti union/ shorten stories but abbot will latch onto the one anti govt one like a pit bull on a T-bone.

Don't forget that the process that awarded the network contract to the ABC in the first place wasn't exactly fair & transparent. Conroy leaked info about the process, and then declared the process corrupted due to the leak, and awarded the contract to the ABC. The information Conroy leaked was basically a statement that the ABC wasn't going to win the contract by the fair & legal tender process.

Well... ah... um... yes. But if they were using it I would be cranky at them too. I might appear to lean to the government (:-)), but seriously, I think they are all self serving ******.

The Lib's just seem to keep their dirty washing in the laundry and have more internal loyalty and hence less loose lips sinking ships.

Sorry for the politics... Just wanted to clarify.
