Parts from the motherland - suggestions please.

    Hi there folks.
Time has come for some work on the Disco, engine mounts and FPR, and local prices are atrocious so I'm looking overseas.
Just chasing some suggestions on where to get parts that are reasonably priced, along with good shipping and customer service.
    Cheers

P.S I'm going with genuine for both, any opinions suggest I should do different?

    Hi Muppet,

I've used MM-4x4 in the past who have been pretty good.
Their website is fairly easy to use (and is a bright, garish yellow so there's no mistaking which website you're on!) and you can specify prices in AUS $.
Once you've placed an order, you're given a reference number and a contact person's name. They then give you a shipping price for you to then go back on the website and buy the equivalent amount of shipping 'tokens' to cover the cost.
Sounds a bit long-winded, but seems to work ok.

As for local, Mario at Roverlord is great to deal with and good on price.

Disclaimer said in a really fast voice - I have no affiliation with either company!

lrdirect.com are very good. Used them quite a bit now. they have visible prices of components from heaps of sources so you can pick and choose

They also update shipping costs automatically so you don't have to wait.

To be honest I don't think I have ever had a bad order out of the UK.

Roverparts in Melbourne are pretty good for a local supplier.

Fastest local parts supplier I have used is M.R Automotive in Redcliffe

    Thanks pete and dan.
I sussed out M.R Auto and they quoted $318 for the complete assembly (genuine) including O ring and gasket for a 10p engine. That's with no shipping, not that I'd expect it to be huge though.
I've been looking at places like Craddocks, Paddocks, Rimmer Bros, etc.
Couldn't seem to find one for the 1A vin range on craddocks, Rimmer Bros are $272, I'll be getting some engine mounts from Rimmer Bros as well so I'd put them in the same shipping bundle.

Almost. If you are buying anything that is bulky or outside of their standard formula for calculating weight it does not work. Two orders in a row they've hit me for extra shipping cost. But yes, LRDirect do offer good prices, and a reasonable range.

DM, with the recent swing in the exchange rate, you may find that the local prices are a little more competitive than they were a few months ago, just make sure you do your sums.

Yep, that's what I've been thinking, all the posts I read are from quite a while ago when the rate of dollar to gbp was a bit more competitive.
I'll see what M.R are like for engine mounts and I'll go from there

Interesting, they sent me a d2 wiper scuttle panel along with a windscreen pillar, rear bumper corner, wiper blades and some clips for 40 pounds. The parcel was about 1.5m long!

    No extra charge

Got a full set of discs and pads in the cart at the moment and they seem happy to ship that aswell

Mine was for a pair of D4 rear lights, a plastic wheelarch liner, a pair of windscreen trims, and a handful of other small parts. Website calculated freight cost at £75, was then sent an email saying that the website could not calculate volumetric freight costs, and given a revised quote for £179. Took the wheelarch liner and windscreen trims out (total weight ~3kg) and the freight cost went back down to £80.

Roverparts are my benchmark "top dollar" parts seller.
You can check their prices and be safe in the knowledge that any other seller will under cut them by a fair margin.
