All you people speaking out against sauce are...... saucists !!!!!!!
There is a simple solution Dave which my Dad taught me. In all his cars he kept a small box which had salt, vinegar and sauce in it for just such occasions as a meat pie or fish and chips. He was a Yorkshireman, so paying a few cents extra for condiments really cut against the grain for him. He said he had already paid for those things at home, so why pay for them again...:D
Remember the Yorkshireman's creed -
Ear all, see all, say note,
Eat all, sup all, pay note.
And if you should ever do ote for note, then do it for the sen (for yourself)
Y'know, I'd be really happy if the biggest worry in my life was that occasionally I had to pay for sauce to go on a pie. :)
BTW, I fall into the 'no-sauce' camp when it comes to pies but that is because I only by nice pies that don't need their flavour enhancing/disguised. :)
Monarchist. :D
Yep..that's TRUE...
My wife was born in Yorkshire (although came to Australia at a very young age with her family as a "five pound Pom")...but her Dad LIVES by that creed...
(BTW..the correct spelling is "nowt")...and, no I'm not taking over from Ron with spelling :D:D:D
Also, sauce should be supplied free if required.
I'm a pro-saucer, but a REALLY good pie is one with mushy peas (must be mushy) under the pie lid with sauce on top. Yummy, must be a top quality pie though!!!:D
I have no problem with any of those surcharges.
Added salt is bad for for your health, as is sugar, pepper and sauce. Why should my pie, coffee etc cost more merely to subsidise others consumption of the condiments. There is enough salt in the foods themselves for health and I use none of them.
BTW: pies are so bad these days because Government regulations specify that a meat pie only needs to contain 25% meat and that can be any of the meat that's unsaleable as a specified cut including grissel, tripe, kidney, sinue and tendons.Better than being a sauce-aholic! :D
