I qualify
but I don't think that I would be fit enough to be even close to competitive. If it was just driving i'd give it a burl![]()
Maybe we need to have an asutralian version, the AULRO challenge

The running? Even in my fittest days, I was the slowest runner in the world!!
The Rock climbing? The last mountain I climbed, I fell off! (Mt Superbus near the wreck of the Lincoln)![]()

Somehow I don't think they'd pick me. It would be a fantastic event to participate in, but not as good as participating in the now defunct Camel Trophy. Now THEY were an adventure! 8)
Yeah the camel trophy was really the ducks nuts. It was all off-road challenge - whereas the G4 is really an 'extreme sport' crossover kind of thing to promote Landys to people who like that kind of thing. (Extreme sport I mean, not Landys).
Did you know that the Camel Trophy was not named after the cigarette brand, but rather after a range of accessories :?: :!: (wallets, watches and that sort of stuff I think). Or perhaps that's just what they told the "don't advertise tobacco or the sky will fall" brigade.

I'd love to do it, but you can leave out running and climbing. Mountainbiking is ok as long as it's downhill. Basically leave out anything that involves much energy!
From the site:
From 21st June 2004 each of our 18 participating Nations will be looking for applicants with physical fitness, mental agility, a positive ‘up for it’ attitude, and a thirst for adventure.
That physiscal fitness is a real bugger!
I dunno, downhilling on a mountain bike can be hard work at the best of times. I'd neet to upgrade to disc brakes on the bike, I nearly went through my first set of brake pads in a week, the mud at the otways is pretty gritty stuff 8O
I know the yanks have a similar thing, maybe having an aus one isn't as silly as it sounds. BYO landys as well. It would be interesting to see a discovery, rangie, series landy and a defender compete side by side 8)
Perhaps a trials layout like the brits do all the time 8) 8)
