Thread: Favourite Aussie-made vehicle?

Does the Perentie Land Rover have enough local content to qualify as Australian Made? The sixby even had the chassis and cab designed here

Bit hard to pick (and to some extent depends what you call Australian made) - but I can't make up my mind whether to say my County or the 2a. While neither are 100% Australian made, they are certainly a majority Australian made, and both are unique to Australia.

After these two, I would probably pick the Moke I owned back in the seventies.

I can't say the Citroen DSpeciale, as it was imported after Australian assembly stopped.

You have got to be kidding. I worked at Leyland Truck and Bus at the time and we had them as company cars. The Six was to be the volume selling line and it was a dog. The only one of the P76 variants that had any appeal was the V8 with four speed trans. The V8's didn't stand the test of time either developing numerous problems.

That I've owned ? XB Falcon. That was bulletproof and, more importantly, teenage driver proof.

I won't criticize other's choices because I still haven't picked myself off the floor from laughing over the OP.

I notice however that nobody has mentioned the Nota Type IV 'Fang', thankfully. It's in the Powerhouse Museum which is good enough reason to avoid the place. Hold on to your lunch....

Got to agree with Dave re the OKA.
Great vehicle for off-road and like the Defender, easily added to and modified to make whatever sort of machine you want.

Do tractors count in this discussion? If so, you can't go past the Chamberlain 9-G. Can almost keep up with a Series I when travelling on the road, and is a great machine to drive on-road or in the paddock.
