I know of a genuine complete one owner XU1 in bits in a shed, its been like that for at least 20 years,no he wont sell,he says it will be restored to factory specs and eventually sold as superannuation.
A mate has a banged up SL 5000(looks like an SL/R,lower spec Im told) on his farm,he wrote it off as a young fella.Hopes to restore it oneday, along with the HQ welbody ute with 308 and statesman interior/front in that loverley pink colour. All factory ordered options,he bent that one too,not as a young fella tough!!!!! Intends restoring it too, only needs a complete HQ ute body that are VERY hard to find.

I was impressed by this one, and the driver. They won that rally twice.

I like the HSV Commodores, later the better, especially the current Walkenshaw enhanced ones. Also a few of the kit cars like the VW Baja and Purvis Eureka, also the Bush Ranger. Don't think I could live with the kit cars though.

HQ wagon. Simple as. Didn't stop (which was good and bad - drum brakes). Cheap to run. Solid as. Easy to fix.
Father in law recalled them from his days in Nigeria where they were well regarded apparently.
    Best looking Holden ever!

Station Wagons from those days were AWESOME, nothing like modern rubbish.

But my favourite HQ is definitely the Statesman !!!
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Both the Holdens and Fords of the day were exported to South Africa.
The South Africans got an XY Fairmont which was the same spec as an XY GT.Many of these are now coming home to Awestralia, worth good money too.

FORD FPV F6 6 SPEED AUTO. I have just ordered mine. Amazing how good a big Aussie 6 with a big hairdryer bolted to it will go. I saw one the other day putting down 480 kw at the wheels. I think 310kw and 565 nm of torque will do me. It is supposed to arrive in Townsville on the 30 Apr. I can't wait.

    Some interesting eplies here.

I did enjoy my first car - a Mini 850 - although it was slow and the door handles kept falling off.
