    Lost My Handbrake Today.

Literally. I currently have my rear tailshaft out as I am looking for a replacement.

As I have spent a lot of time doing this with Toyota's over the years I did not put any nuts back to hold the brake drum on. On the Toyota's the drum and hub is one piece so the drum is held on with the center nut on output shaft.

Any how I took it in to get some new tyres and alignment, which is a 50 kay round trip plus aligners road test, all with no problems.

Yesterday I went to footy training and as I went around the first corner near home I heard this thump. I looked in the back to see what had fallen over but could see nothing. I checked mirrors for some thing that might have fallen from roof rack, nothing.

I get to my destination about three kays further and when applying the hand brake I almost pulled the lever from its mount.

I knew straight away what the earlier thump was. On my way home there was my handbrake drum sitting in the grass on the side of the road.

Another seniors moment. Big worry is these are becoming more frequent.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

At least you found it again.

If it was a true seniors moment, you wouldn't have remembered where it fell off in the first place... You've still got a while to go yet mate.

I must have listened to Roothy too much...I thought you left your wife at the shops and couldn't find her.

hmm I ran my D1 as front wheel drive for a while, not out of choice, and I distinctly remember not putting those nuts back on... amazing I didn't lose my drum by the sound of it, was driving all around Melb too!

Not that my handbrake works anyway... *sighs* but that's not the top of the list of things that need fixing...
