I don't get it.

Your wife of 40 plus years wants to do something with you; with you ! no-one else but you.

You backed out of a trip to South America & Antarctica and now she can't travel there because of her health.

Will you do the same thing again ? What will you tell yourself when she can no longer travel there either or anywhere else for that matter ?

Oh, its OK I didn't want to go anyway. That will be a fine comfort for her won't it ?

So now tell us why you even have a 4WD ?

If my wife of 35 years suggested a trip to anywhere I would have her bags and mine packed before she stopped asking.

To me its simple! your wife asked you to go, so you go.

It actually sounds like you need to visit your doctor and get checked up for depression. Don't let yourself succumb to self pity.

Wifey & I have been together for 35 years as well & we quite often go our separate ways. There's places I like to go where she doesn't & vice versa but we do go a lot of places together. We do enjoy fishing & camping which is why we have the Disco & off road camper trailer.

I think you still have to retain some individuality & personal preference in your life so I'm quite comfortable in saying to my wife " No! I don't want to go there!" i.e. the Rhine cruise, but I'll probably go anyway
I must be a miserable old git too as I have trouble getting out of my place quite often. I'm more than happy to wander around the property doing this & that. Going into a major centre for shopping purposes is alien to me & I can't wait to get out.

It sorta surprised me too Ron, only you can answer the question. As I'm sure you are aware mate, a relationship only lasts as long as yours and Elizabeth's with a good dose of consideration combined with give and take.
