Just called our good mate who lives just north of Cardwell. He was in the process of tying down everything in preparation. He said they reckon they'll get flooded in again, but is hopeful the winds will have dropped by the time it gets down their way.
Their home survived Yasi but they lost most of their beautiful gardens.
We hope all our AULRO mates who live in the path of Ita will be OK.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
I'm not an overly religious man, but saying a quiet prayer for those up north,Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
Been through a few blows myself in the last few years, but not a 5. Best of luck all.

Well I have just finished up a few hours with the SES filling sand bags. Some very worried people up here. Got a message that Cooktown has just lost power. I am about 100k due south, and it looks like it will track down the coast, or just inland. Puts me directly in the firing line, however it should loose some power, unless it stays over the ocean. Makes me wish I had more bricks around me, and less glass. At least Michelle, and Alex are safe in Melbourne at the moment (well at least as safe as you can be in Melbourne).
Will feed the animals, and myself, and settle down and wait. Plan on being busy cleaning up the storm damage tomorrow. Time to dust off the chainsaw, and pole saw. Some of the trees on the hill behind our house in the state forest are looking pretty big at the moment. I might just sleep downstairs tonight.
Hope everyone fairs well,
Cheers,
Ken
Stay safe Ken
Im really quite anxious about the possible landfall of the cyclone....
I hope everyone up there is OK aulro member or not....
I would love to live up North but this is the only thing that worries me that all the guys up there are at such risk from mother nature like this.
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
