If any truck with the same stud pattern uses disc brakes, this would make a very convenient 'low profile' aarken flarken drum brake base. Might miss out on a bit of airflow though, unless you add some 'speed holes'.![]()
Thought about a base yet Gav? long time heat soak,, if that makes sense![]()

Looks excellent Mitch, you've done a top job with it,, is going to be just for home, or is it you'll try to cart it around when camping too. (I suspect it will be a bit heavy for carting though).
Thanks chops. It's just for home use at the moment, but in a bind, it could be carted around- it's only joined by 4x 7/8" bolts... so nothing crazy.
The base can be inverted and loosely stacked within the fire pit section (1 leg in, 2 legs out), but at 50ish kilo, it's a bit of an effort for space and weight in the 90. I guess we shall see how it travels if I ever feel the need.

Yes, base will be one of the drums upended much like Mitch has done - not sure of much else apart from that, I’ll make it up as I go, but it will be more like a pot belly with chimney (so I can make sure the smoke goes over next doors fence near their clothes line...![]()

Gav, have you seen the video of the yanks that hook up a flexy tube to a big cummins truck, then roll coal / gas the bloke out who is on the toilet?
I'm thinking you need to adapt this idea to make an aarken flarken powered coal roller for the neighbor's washing.
Needs some kind of forced induction.

I made another one.
Welded straight to the cast steel drum, on the rim mounting face. Hasn't cracked (yet). I hope it handles the differential heat thru the legs. If it does crack, I'll vee it out and run some nickel stick rods over it, which should be ductile enough to handle it.

Had to replace our house pump pressure tank a few years ago and have finally got round to resurrecting the old one. It's larger than a gas cylinder. A nephew did the pipe bending in his engineering w/shop. The worst part was trying to remove the internal rubber air bladder. I ended up having to burn it out!
It's an adjustable height hook and designed to take a bbq grill on three chains. The hook handle also acts as a carry handle as it doesn't get too hot. Comes apart in no time too.
