That was an interesting read. It'd be good to know what the lateral traction for each tyre was.
Next months tyre test will be a good one on the bog tyres. Shame they didn't include the Simex JT2 though.
Has anyone had the chance to read the latest 4x4 monthly? mag (has a Defender on the cover) They have a very comprehensive tyre test on the leading mud tyres available. Includes a comparison of tyres over the same conditions +price ect.
Worth a read if only for the Landy story.

Stole that edition from my brother, that is one sweet defender.
I thought the tyre test was interesting, but I wondered a little about the results. There is a US test where they tested some muddies against some boggers online, and the results were very different, although I suppose the criteria were a little different.
Sports tyres will be an interesting read as well 8) , pity the JT2 misses out, because that's what i'd be getting if I could fit em (and afford em)

The result for A/T or M/T tyre tests seem to be that BFG and Coopers come out on par, on top.
Just choose the one you like the sidewall printing on best.
Or whichever is cheaper.
Speaking of which - what sort of kilometerage (damn metric system) would you get out of an AT as compared to an MT - assuming the same mix of mostly on road / some off road :?: Anyone have any direct experience of this ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I have so far gotten 65,000 kms out of my BFG A/T's and are still looking pretty good, hopefully get another 20,000kms out of them. They haven't done a lot of off roading, but my friend got 60,000-70,000 out of his and did a lot of off-roading in them.
I think next time I might try the coopers, as I don't think the BF's are any good in the wet.
Matt.
Interesting - that wet weather thing is the first real point of difference anyone has told me between the BFG's and Coopers... (assuming the Coopers are any different, that is).
M/T's would, I imagine, have a substantially shorter life, when used mainly on-road.
