The shrub thingy beside my hovel

This bush is right outside my dunny window.
This is a screened louvre window that is always wide open.
A dozen or so beautiful little Sparrows live and nest there.
I wake up to hear them singing and chirping away quite happily.
I look out the window and join in and they are quite friendly and try to converse with me.
We get on well together and I much appreciate it.

    Mice of the air.
    Pigeons are rats with wings.

    No they are not.
Alex if you have never met or befriended one you dont know what you are missing.

They are great to watch when they are on the ground feeding and interacting with one another.
    They live an idilic life.
To me a lot of the people are the rats.

Someone complained about the noise crows make the other day and sometimes the buggers wake me early also.
But I have three crow mates that come into my back room occasionally to ask for some bread to eat. They are very thankful and polite and mill around my feet as I break up the bread into small pieces.
I would never dream of trying to get rid of them.

Didn't mean to offend - I just care more for things that belong in the ecosystem rather than introduced ferals.

But I agree about humans being the rats

Mate I wasn't offended at all.
Its just that I try to absorb the beauty and engage with the things that surround me, introduced or not.
I am sure a lot of folks would be less stressed if they did likewise, there is just so much in our own backyard that can put a smile on our face when we take time out.

I hate feral people, feral cats and introduced cane toads.

Robert I agree with you, I am missing my native garden in Queensland which gave me so much pleasure. 70% of my bird photography come from it and also the flora.
I have spent hours watching the Butcherbirds using parts of the grevillea bushes as tools to eat insects and their melody is awesome.

That's a nice way to wake up. When we go down to the inlaws in the barren northern suburbs of Perth, there aren't any trees so there aren't any birds and it does my head in after only a couple of days.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

    G'Day Robert,
Instead of feeding them bread, why don't you buy "Wild Bird Mix" from your local pet shop. My wife is a bird lover, she uses this mix to feed the birds here.

I am sure every vet on earth will say not to feed a bird bread as ausfreed said the bird feed mix
