Sorry to hear you bad news. It all seems to be slowing down a bit here but a lot of companies do seem to be looking at costs, rather than the value that someone/thing brings to the organisation.
Well BHP have wielded the axe again on their safety department and myself and a lot of others are now out of work. All about cost cutting. BHP previously have led safety in all areas, but over the last year or so have taken so many backward steps it is not funny. It will only be a matter of time before someone pays for their sins.
Not sure where to from here, jobs with my skills are getting fewer and far between.
My main focus now is to ensure we dont lose our house and I can ensure my daughter can finish her TAFE course.
Not after sympathy, but my mindset may not be in the best space over the coming weeks.

Very sorry to hear that mate. Hope another opportunity comes up soon for you.
That's no good at all sucks loosing jobs. Bhp are starting to loose a few jobs here in Qld to and I know the safety departments are getting changed from site to Brissy so only time will tell how long before something happens
Sorry to hear that, not pleasant, losing your job. I have also been there a few times in my life, but something always turns up if you are determined enough.
Good luck for the future!!!![]()
Sorry to hear about thisBHP often make rash decisions that cost either $$$ or lives, hope the later is not the case.
Good luck with finding a new job.
Mate sorry to hear about your predicament.
Having been made redundant not too long ago, and separately having spent 12 months looking for work, my tip would be to always keep your chin up.
It is easy to get in a rut, and that leads to not searching for work (what's the point right? Been there), which puts you in a deeper rut...
I suggest setting a plan for your job hunting that involves doing a set of activities in the morning and a set of activities in the afternoon / evening - and then ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get them done. Once you get in to this routine you are helping give yourself maximum chance of trying to get worth through consistently searching.
Outside of that, find something else to keep you busy. Something that interests you and preferably something that gives results you can see, look at, be and proud of. I found fixing stuff around the house (yes that long list) as a good diversion.

Sorry to hearing the lost of your job Craig.
Safety is a very low priority in the private industry and the hope to work as a consultant is getting harder. Greed for money have take over human values
Perhaps Craig it is time to start looking for jobs in different fields.
My best wishes and do not give up, some times bad news like this works ok in finding more attractive opportunities.
Hey, I know how you feel. I was shafted last year from my job. I've become very specialised in what I do, so there are no jobs in qld. Left me having to do labouring jobs that I hated for a long while, now I'm just trying to get by on short term contracts bluffing my way through as something I'm not really....
I'd love to move to a new field of work and get a new qualification but no one is interested in giving me a go. Its tough and very depressing.
Hope you can find something pretty quickly.
Sent from my Land Rover A8.
Sorry to hear that Craig. I was made redundant a year ago. I've managed to pick up some reduced hours work recently. A lot of the people I have worked with are now working overseas, funnily, same jobs more money.
Have you tried looking overseas?
