I am so glad I am on LPG. If it wasn't for the gas I don't think I could keep my beastie on the road. I do about $20 worth of gas a week. A bit of a bugger on a long trip but I can still run on petrol. Nearly got a cheap '85 disco 300tdi but it was knackerd in the interior.

I've considered the gas thing myself, but apparantly they can only tune it so it runs well on either gas or petrol, one will always run badly.
Plus the fact that I don't know where I'd put the damn gas tank. Can't have it taking up load space.

they dont always use one tank.
you can get a bank of 3 or 4 smaller tanks which sit in place of your
original tank or where there is space. of course they are interlinked.

or maybe consider an old furphy?????????
with a treg hitch of course.

Gas is good for EFI, hardly notice the difference. I run a Holley for petrol and you can get tanks that go under the sills. I have a small tank in place of the petrol tank (42lt usable) with a 30lt custom petrol tank tucked behind it. I run gas when doing difficult terrain. It's a bit more responsive.

So gas isn't too bad on efi vehicles?
Maybe worth asking around a bit more , see what the pros say.

With the right setup, a second small ECU is added and when you swith from petrol to gas, this unit turns off the injectors and controls the gas using the airflow meter and the Lambda sensor to set the mix. I reccommend using Impco equipment, reliable and easily available.

Hey Damo - you dont even need a Lambda sensor, can run without.
