Defender V Disco

Just wonderin why defender drivers give each other a complimentary wave as we drive by, but this doesn't happen when disco drivers go past each other?

Its written in the Defender Manual ....

"Defender drivers must wave to each other, to reduce the risk of
oil seal leakage"

I dont risk it , I always wave to another Fender ....

It's dangerous to take both hands off the steering wheel to hang out of the window and wave.

Why don't Defender drivers wave at me? :x

It's a city thing not waving. A bit of subtle eye contact seems to work 8)

Defenders drivers don't see Disco drivers waving because there are so many Discos.

In the country some Defenders are driven by Farmers and they don't know what the fuss is about.

Off the beaten track we wave.

I flick my highbeam and people think that there is a speed camera/radar ahead. :?

It could be said that Defender Drivers arnt actually waving but are
removing the cramps from there right arm due to the lack space
between their shoulder and the drivers door pillar.

But I dont believe that for a minute ....

Some disco drivers will give you a wave, Most will check out your vehicle.
Give the little nod maybe.

It is surprising how often this topic comes up.

Personally when I first got my Disco, I waved at all LR's I saw, got sick and tired of getting the "whats your problem stare"

Normally that changed out of town.

Now with the Defender, I get a lot of return waves, still get some stares but

Maybe its me

I think that defender drivers are generally like minded people who buy their 4wd to use and know just how good it is, Too many disco drivers are just yuppies who never get anywhere near a bush track.

You know how us serious landy drivers sre, it's a club, the only prerequisite is to own a landy!

we should try and copy the LRM magazine approach in the UK.

They created stickers - "Wave and be waved back" in bright yellow, almost a smiley face

How about it?
