    Yes, and one that's often overlooked. Another example is the Chinese, not just the ones who came during the Gold Rush, but also those believed to have explored and mapped northern Australia in the 13th century, from their trading ports in India.

    I have a good book about the Afghans as they're described, that came here from 1860 or so, on.
    It's called 'Tin mosques and ghantowns. by christine Stevens.
    It's a good read about the development of early Australia and the influence of the cameleers.
