I've had the aural pleasure of hearing an Audi R8 V10 at full noise zoom past me on the M1 motorway, as well as part of the local Audi roadshow. It has to be heard.

As for a V8 note, I'm partial to the Mercedes benz, C63 AMG. Deep and crackly, it's 6.3l of DOHC V8 goodness.

    Wink

The longer version of the Datsun pictured, my old 260Z with 2.8L straight six, triple 2" Jag SU's and lumpy cam sounded wonderful.

So did the Nissan GQ Patrol with 1UZFE V8.

And while I am on the subject of my vehicles ;-) my current OM606 24V six turbo in the G sounds pretty good!

Can't be beaten, especially 4 of them.

But in a car, there's nothing like the sound of a BDA Escort. However, it must be experienced in a forest, preferably after midnight.

I would!!! With a 200hp Cummins pushing it, everything can be quite urgent if desired!!!!

As for awesome sounds... Apart from the straight thru sound of the Cummins 6Bt with turbo whistle, I think the trusty Scania V8 is up there as one of my favourite sounds!!!!

We used to go off roading at this place when we lived in the uk . To me there is something wonderful about the sound of a Scammell Truck on full song, especially in mud

My vote goes to Moffat's '69 Mustang. At idle, the ground shook within about a 30 metre radius. Such a glorious stuttered grumble through the conical sidepipes. It was a damn mean looking thing too.

My vote goes to the Isuzu Diesel I heard in the local Rural Firies truck when a 100 acre paddock adjoining us caught fire a couple of years ago!
