I don't have any problems with the idiot box reception. I just don't watch it...simples. None of the crap they put on is worth watching anyway. Read a good book mate............oh, that's right you are a reader.Oh well, just a thought.

You don't have a signal booster in the line somewhere thats lost power or failed?

I'll just have to get it sorted before the cricket starts and I was hoping to watch the Com games.

I just had an experience while travelling which is similar .From about Karratha up the coast I had poor or no reception through my ALDI antenna. this annoyed me but I felt solace that some others had the same problem.
In Kununurra I could get very little reliably even tuning to a small rebroadcaster 1km away. I blamed all teh LEDs in the caravan park , as when I turned on my LED outside light , I lost the picture.

Anyway this kept on happening until Maroochydore when I knew that the transmitter was only 24Km away so I bit the bullet and opened up my ALDI antenna ( and thus voided the warranty!)to find that the main signal wire into the amp had parted company. Went To Jaycar, bought a $20 soldering iron and 1 second fix.
At Kingscliff I was getting all channels clear with the transmitter 43? km away.

The point I am making somewhat wordily is IMHO the first place to look for reception problems is your antenna or in line amp. Turns out when I was getting a picture must have been via the antenna plug on the back of the TV.

BTW there is a magic Iphone app that tells you the correct direction to point your antenna. I recently was given a 4S which has ios7 and can use the app. Oh what joy.

One part of my job is to keep our TV going, 6 satellite dishes, 2 transmitters, and miles of coax cable. Early on I found connectors were the main problem, started buying 3M and Dow Corning stuff, no more el cheapie electrician tape, problem gone. Other bug bear is lightening strikes, but lots of in line surge filters help.

So KISS initially and start with the connectors. Esp if it was working earlier.

This could be what's causing it.

My missus bent my ear till I gave in and got a tv bloke out. I had got it as good as it could be, as I had kept saying. We get our signals from repeaters that are near opposite to each other. For reasons beyond mortals like me. One repeater has better channel two signals bur ordinary seven channels and the other has the opposite. A mere zephyr of wind and it`s all pixels. Digital is way to directional.

Found the problem.
The antenna was pointing slightly in the wrong direction.
It went bung about midnight the other night so I think one of the large birds from the nearby lake either landed on or hit it.
The whole thing needs replacing as it is old and a bit wonky but there was no wind the night it buggered up so I think it may have been a bird strike.
I will get quotes for a new system one day.
