    TELL US WHERE YOU LIVE!

I notice that many people on here like to give a location as Victoria, or some obtuse term for where they live.

There are times when your true location may assist you (need help with something mechanical for example). Providing your actual location will assist those who may have the knowledge to help you faster. It may also mean that you'll find some like minded friends nearby.

Since we're not surreptitiously posting on a porn/dating site here, I can't see why your location should, or needs to be so obscure?

    Just a thought.....

    Where I live.

I don't like to give the suburb or exact location due to the fact that I think that if I was less than honest and wanted to steal a particular type of car I would look at those car specific forums for locations.
We car owners are a bit stupid in that we like to tell other like minded people all about our cars.
I'm happy to PM someone if for instance I've got a something for sale.

But that's just me. I don't trust many people, and certainly not those I don't know.

And about it being a porn site. My wife just said she wishes it was! Apparently it would be cheaper. Not sure what she means..

    Cheers,

So if you were less than honest, you would search froums to find the town, city or suburb where someone owns a vehicle that you would like to steal, then you would cruise around every street in that city, town or suburb until you loacted the object of your desire,

There must be a simpler way than that to make a dishonest living. Surely cruising the streets, shopping centres and parking lots would be easier and quicker.

I think your concerns are unwarranted, but that may be partly because I have never owned a vehicle that is high on the list of those that people want to steal.

I give my location as Lake Macquarie. (God's own country, I might add). Now the Lake Macquarie area is huge with Australia's largest salt water lake plopped right in the middle of it. A big area to search if someone is looking at nicking my car.

In the past few weeks, there have been a number of "High End" custom cars stolen from over in the western suburbs.

I don't know if these guys that owned them are on forums or not, the word was certainly out on FB for the find/return of them. But I doubt the crims involved trolled the forum to find them.
From what I can see, cars, or vehicles in general are taken from street parking locations,,, ie, shopping, at show parking etc.

Cars that are taken specifically from the garage, seem to be from information shared with unlikely crims who get told by a friend of a friend so to speak.

As far as information here goes, I don't think a street address number is needed, but certainly a suburb is good, and even maybe if you are on a main road, it wouldn't hurt. Something like a court, perhaps not.
Not much here for thieves anyway,, although their welcome to steel the black cat

My Classic is so un-desirable that.. the thief who nicked it one night brought it back the next, left a note saying he couldn't afford the petrol...

Whilst a long way from home and sometimes interstate, I've met many people who at least know of my locality and who often have lived or worked or played football here.
