Reminds me of a Dobermann we had years ago.Everyone was a friend, she wouldnt even bark at strangers, yet many were **** scared of her,and wouldnt come into our yard.

A wonderfull companion, and put up with our kids doing anything to her,but the worse watch dog we have ever had.

Yep, I’ve had a Doberman - friendliest dog I ever had but also the best guard dog for the same reason - everyone has a preconceived idea they are dangerous and out to get them.

Years ago we lived in "a rather posh area" for a few years. The old lady across the road had an extremely well built specimen of a Doberman. He had a "guard dog" bark that would chill you to the bone, but outside of the house he was one of the biggest sooks I'd ever met. A thoroughly wonderful dog, and your best mate ever if he spotted you with a ball.

The next doors had a beautiful Weimaraner who was as deaf as a post. He used to jump their tennis court fence and come out for a wander or to play, but we had a sod of a time stopping him getting hit by cars. He was a big boy and would have done a lot of damage if you belted him.

Friends had a Doberman which was a friendly house mate - once it had confirmed you were a friend of the family

It was a curious beast and always liked to be in the middle of what ever was happening.

One day they were painting the side of the house. Had set up tresells with a plank between them. The wife was on one end painting when the dog decided to join her. Jumped up on the other end of the plank. Catapulted her off with paint tin and contents landing on her. Am told it felt like was in a Looney Tunes cartoon. Lucky neither was hurt
