SubscriberFor those that knew him - quite a few members here have been camping when he's been around - My beloved Pug Wes passed away on Tuesday. He'd been having issues for several months that my local Vet was treating with success when he had a major setback on Tuesday - of course he had to get sick on a public holiday so rushed him tot he Emergency Vet around 20 minutes away (Who were awesome - Animal Referral Hospital Essendon Fields | ARH Vets ) - his temp had skyrocketed and his oxygen levels plummeted, but they did manage to stabilise him and while conducting their checks diagnosed Laryngeal Paralysis - This is likely what was starting to happen to him over the last few months but on Tuesday it went to another level.
Anyway, while discussing options for him he had a heart attack and died - they did warn me that a negative outcome was the most likely result, but as it all happened so suddenly - had him in the car around 10 minutes after he started having issues, at the Vet 20 minutes later, then 2 hours after that he died - it hit me quite hard.
Even if he'd pulled through the initial issues, the longer term prognosis wasn't great as the paralysis is usually caused by a more serious underlying condition, so it was his time. All too young - even for a Pug as he was just 10 years old.
Tins - I know you still remember him jumping into your Swag on the Sunday morning at one of the first Winter Wombats - wish I'd had some video of that.
We got Wes as a rescue when he was just a year old so he's had a great life with us and travelled widely in the 101 and caravan with myself and my former partner. Like all dogs, he loves his owners more than himself and was always there with a curly wagging tail, pats and cuddles for anyone who wanted or needed them - he bought a lot of joy to children and adults alike as almost no one would walk past him without stopping to chat and pat.
Wes, rest in peace my friend - you will be sorely missed.

Sorry to hear, Gav.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Condolences Gav,
Its tough when we lose a dog, as we get so attached to them, but sadly they don't have the same life span as we do.
As a rescue dog Wes would have been very grateful to you for life he got lead, he was very fortunate.
Cheers,
Mick & Jill.

One of my brothers lost his 12 yr old Border Collie due to a heart issue,Boxing Day.
She was a great companion and what makes it worse is that his kids had grown up with her.
We were there Christmas Day for a family gathering, and she was there wagging her tail, seemed fine.
Anyway,RIP,Salty,she will be badly missed.
So Sad when they leave us. I still go to talk to our Pip even though it's a few months now , especially when my wife have some grilled snapper left over & I think I will give that to Pip as a treat.
Ours is 12 next year and getting slower and slower, although ducks on the dam still stir her interest
Two weeks ago, tumour on the skin under her belly taken off,16 stitches,$1K,but all worth it.
I just love them such wonderful companions, had them all my life, but as they say,one day they will create a very sad day,but that is just a part of owning any type of pet.
Been there a few times.
Have to think of the good times and move on.
I can remember him from the first WW I went to, along with JT, Nick (Loanrangie), Alien (Kyle), Chris, etc and to me good dogs are just like people.
I was having a drink with the guy next door last night, chez moi, and told him that my pooch passed away a couple of weeks ago and he had tears in his eyes. He knew my pup pretty well.
For some people it is a lot sadder when a really honest, totally faithful and intelligent companion that you know really well dies than it is when a person who you are acquainted with falls off the knives they've stuck in your back.
take care Gav, DL
RIP Wes, he had a good life.
