Through a dealer you will pay a small fortune. There are a few suppliers in Australia that do decent prices, but often can be worthwhile getting from the UK, parts of Europe or even the US.

Triumph Rover Spares in Lonsdale is the big Land Rover wreckers in SA, they sometimes have cars for sale too. There are also a few very good independent LR mechanics around, and the Welland branch of Rovacraft can get most new parts in within a day or two. If you want cheaper you'll of course have the option of UK supply, air freight can take as little as four days.

The local free internet marketplace is Gumtree, plenty of cars appear on there. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-sa/land+rover/k0l3008842

    Welcome aboard.

Prices out here can be hit and miss, sometimes only a bit more than uk, sometimes crazy more. I like to buy local but my wallet cannot go a 50% prise rise on a part that is $800 landed from the uk.
I ordered some bits from lrdirect, last Sunday. Monday night had a confirmation email, Tuesday night a shipped email with estimate of a Tuesday delivery. Box arrived Monday!

A quick look on these two sites suggests that the Land Rover clutch could be $79 cheaper.

Prices for different brands and different models could vary quite a bit.

I think it would be wrong to assume that LR parts are dearer than others 4WDs.

There are quite a few good local LR parts suppliers with an online presence so if you need small parts quickly they can be had overnight, large expensive items will often be cheaper even with freight from the UK.
Something like a clutch is easy to get from non LR suppliers like Exedy.

Another good source of Landrover parts is M.R.Automotive, in Queensland they will ship Australia wide and have both genuine and aftermarket mainly Bearmach, try MR's website www.mrautomotive.com.au
