Dingsy,
Will be re-registering my GS Cargo Perentie in early August. NRMA CTP insurance quote totals $706 comprising $492 for the premium, $49 GST and $165 MCIS Levies.
Registration papers for the Perentie note tare weight as 2100kg/GVM as 3200kg. "Use" and "purpose" both noted as private.
I thought because the GVM was fairly high this might push the CTP premium up as from memory it did push up the registration fee more than I thought it would, however I also have a CTP quote for our 2013 Kia Sportage due for registration at the same time and the premium figure is virtually the same.
Based on mine I'm not sure what they're basing your quote on. Don't know whether noted driver age(s) comes into it; noted drivers for mine are the missus and I which are sub-50 years old (just)....

Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

If its a hard top you could get it registered as a PVF (Panel Van with Fenestrations (windows)) or just panel van and see if that makes a difference.
Most 4WD including Range Rover classic get the PVF classification.
The rates for utilities have gone through the roof because of all the ratbag driver tradies.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
I would have thought high CTP is because they are built like brick ****houses and can drive through or over just about anything causing more damage.![]()
