As the offending vehicles were "arrested" does that make them Land Rover Defendants?

    Why am I thinking
    Old Perentie + dumb American = $$$
    Convertible Perentie = $$$$
    6x6 Perentie = $$$$$

Who wants to start a business?
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I would say "Join the queue"
Many are interested and a lot have a lot of money to invest, BUT,
    There are several deep pitfalls.
Not least of which is the apparant use of stockpiled 110 chassis LRA used for the construction of the Perenties. Someone I know has run a few through the USA VIN database and they are coming up as '85 models etc.
If a vehicle gets too many pings against it, the above is what happens.
Good luck, you will need it.
    Cheers, BDave.

    Dave,
I understand this is your area of expertise,
    But 1985 + 25 = 2010 , so they pass that rule,
    Or am I missing something,
    Other rules not mentioned?

    Cheers
    Andrew

    G'day Andy.
Sorry, didn't paint the full picture.
Yes, most will pass the 25year rule.
The issue is when the VIN on the chassis says 1985, 86 and the compliance and build plates say '89 or '91. Things are going to get crunchy.
Blame the numerous Workshops in the UK that made a good business out of putting Late defender bodies on 110s and RR chassis and claiming they were improved versions of the early vehicle.
US Customs got jack of being made to look like fools, so have gone hardline.
    Cheers, BDave.

Andy, just getting older won't help.
It is not impossible to send a Perentie to the USA. Just very tricky. The issue is when there is an Apparent disconnect between the VIN details on the US system and the ID/ build plates on the vehicle. It isn't anything inherantly wrong with LRA practice or the vehicles, but what the Import system identifies them as. And we all know who has the final say...
Make a list and check it twice (or twenty times)
