    The "FLU"

Am approaching my 61st birthday next week.
Last wednesday I wasnt feeling crash hot,got to see doc on thursday and he said I got flu.Spent next 2 days lying in the sun on my camper bed on verandah with singlet,2 t-shirts,2 jumpers and a blanket just to keep warm.
When the weather changed Sat arvo,it was inside with my fire going full bore and still is.
Never have I felt so crap in all my years, even tho I had the flu shot, Doc said I must have got a chill earlier during the week for me to get it.
Yesterday was the first day I actually ate since last wednesday.Have improved greatly since it first hit.
Still got a pain in the lungs so I'm going back to see Doc and get an Xray to make sure I dont have any pneumonia bits there, hopefully not..Then will ask about getting the vacc for it.

To anyone that has had the flu and getting on in years go see your Doc and get an xray for pneumonia and get the vaccination for it.

    cheers

I hear you, this years flu seems to be pretty nasty. I don't normally get the flu, but this year I'm currently trying to get rid of it. I don't know about old people getting the flu but getting the flu sucks.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

    Disco gazza,

Get well soon mate. It is certainly bad this season. I haven't got it yet and hope not to get it either. I did have the flu shot earlier this year. In saying all of that I've had something lingering around for the last 3-4 weeks - get better one day and the next I've got the sniffles back and sweat it out a few days later.

Hope you're feeling 100% for your birthday next week.

    regards,
    Mike

    61 is great mate

I'm sure the flu sucks. I think I've had it once in my life, but haven't had a cold for the last 2 to 3 years either.

The flu jab was available to me through work for the past 10 years or more, but I've never had one. Now I'm retired, I'll have to pay for it If I want it ie

    Hope you get better soon.

My 4 year old daughter came down with it over the weekend. She is very unhappy, temperature ranging from 38.5 to 40.5, lots of aches, including head and belly. She woke at least 10 times last night with fever dreams and was very upset.
There was a birthday party yesterday with the kids from her preschool only half attended as the others where all sick with it.
I had the flu shoot earlier this year as I knew she would bring it home, hopefully it works.

my youngest granddaughter gave me the bug a couple of weeks ago....

after a week on codral cold tablets and then a week on other medicines i sort of feel something approaching human today for the first time in a while... even have an attention span longer than 5 minutes!

my whole chest and lower back aches from the coughing etc ..

had the needle... beginning to think flu would have killed me if i hadn't...

I've decided that there is only 1 think worse than having the flu/cold. It's having the flu/cold and not having fast enough internet to stream anything from youtube, or update that game you haven't played on your PS3 yet.

On a positive note, I did print out instructions for changing the timing belt on my 200tdi.....

I've been staying away from my parents, I don't think it'd be a good idea for my dad (in his 70's) to get the flu.... actually I've been staying home, self quarantined until I feel better.

I got pretty crook last year & lost 12 kgs in one week. Had blood tests & was told that my white blood cells were stuffed resulting in my immune system being shot (excuse all the technical talk). Went to the chemist once better, explaining what had occured & told him I wanted something to help my immune system. He gave me something they sell called "arma force". I have been taking it daily for about 10 mths & haven't been sick since, even though many around me (inc. family) have been quite sick. Got it from Chemist Warehouse. Good luck, hpoe you are all feeling better soon.
