Indonesian Muslims warn Christian donor against conversions

Jakarta, Jan. 10 - An Australian Catholic priest doing relief work among tsunami victims in Indonesia has encountered stern resistance from local Islamic militants, who fear the cleric might try to convert Muslim children.

Father Chris Riley arrived last Friday in Aceh, one of the Indonesian provinces hardest hit by the tsunami. He had plans to set up an orphanage to care for the estimated 15,000 children in the province who lost their parents in the disaster. But the Sun Herald reports that the priest received a warning from the leader of the radical Islamic Defenders Front, telling him that he must not attempt to convert Muslim children.

I'm not talking about the few small groups who are doing fantastic work helping all they can, I'm talking about the church as a whole. The Catholic church for one is worth an unbelievable amount of money. Australia put in millions, where's the churches millions :?: I'm not picking on just the catholics here, what about the rest of them too. They've got more money than a lot of countries, where's their aid :?:

There was a great article in The Australian on Monday (9/1/05, pg 9) by Mark Steyn in relation to the lack of aid from Muslim countries. Apparently Australia has given more in aid than the combined Muslim countries of Saudi, Libya, Syria and Egypt combined.

I want to know how much of his billions the 'Sandman' (Bin Laden) has given to his suffering Muslim brothers and sisters. I suppose it is hard to find a branch in Tora Bora :wink:

That aside, it is impossible to turn your back on a suffering child on the basis of religion.
