Hi Redback, if all that doesnt convince her i dont know what will, i think maggot is the man to listen to, given he owns one.

I know what you mean on the poor service, a mate of mines old man has i hilux for the farm and the toyota dealer which services it is crap, if they could work as quickly as they add zero's to the bill there wouldnt be a problem.

Remember redback, you could do a helluva lot to a disco with the money you save not buying a cruiser. Buy it, fit a bullbar, snorkel, chip the motor, get the centre diff lock re-fitted and you will have a vehicle which will tow better than any cruiser, will go twice as far off road, and one which will be far more pleasurable to drive on road.

Try Trivett Classic in Parramatta, they generally have a few second handies on the the lot. Matt

Well guys it is no more the Explorer has been written off by the assessor and you will be pleased to know we are going to look at a Discovery tomorrow, a 2000 silver SII 96,000ks for $29,000.

You have made me a happy man Baz, i think you have made the right decision, the main thing to look for is service history, if it doesnt have a well documented history, walk away. If they claim work has been done ask for receipts, if they cant seem to find them assume it hasnt been done and budget for it. Also budget for the 100000km service its pretty pricey, in the $1000 range, but that would be the same for any vehicle. Matt

I would be taking this very slowly....it is SO important to get a good one.

It took me 6mths to find Kimba (but I am a bit precious) and it was eventually interstate.

Once the D3 arrives, watch the prices plummet for the SIIs. Just looking this afternoon, I have seen some ridiculous discounting on dealer demos for SII Discos. 8O

I know you need a vehicle straight away redback, but as noddy said dont go rushing into it, it will come back to bite you in the bum later. Make a smart choice based on facts, ie service history and take it to another place to get it checked out. Matt

Yep we will, not going to get caught with a dog, the prices seem to be all over the shop so as they say buyer beware. 8O
