Stick to GME mate if you can, Aussie made and great back up if you ever need it.
TX4400 is the wepon of choice.
Has anyone got one of these fitted?
or
Has anyone used one, if so what's it like?

Jason ,
Uniden products are Australian and their head office is in Rockdale
Sydney New South Wales .
I've had the UH-013 for a couple of years. It seems to perform well enough. I only replaced my GME because the GME was too big for the P38A and the later DIN sized GME unit wouldn't fit the opening in the dash. I bought this one for the separate head unit.
Oddly enough, it seems to have some of the extra 40 scanning receive channels tuned to people who ask the base station for a "C&I check" and the base comes back with "Is your radio secure?"
Then they reel off this great list of crimes or traffic offences about somebody. Dunno what this is.....

I dont think you can go far wrong Jason, if you choose either the Uniden or the GME. I had a GME TX3200 fitted in mine and it works a treat. It broke the second day it was in but the Sparky fitted a new one after the trip no questions asked and it hasnt missed a beat since. Matt

I picked this one for similar reasons Ron, Firstly for the scanner but for Fire channels, should be of some use if out bush when a fires heading your way. Secondly to here what the boys with seeing eye dogs are up too.
Working in the Security industry for a almost a decade let me over hear some of the funniest comments from the constablatory, I overheard the question "Is your radio secure?" one night only to hear its response from the female cop as "Sure it's in pretty tight!" 8O " don't think it'll fall out"
It makes me feel safe at night knowing that it's folks like that who look after the bad guys.
