Thread: Buying New Tyres

You cant really go past a set of BFG Goodrich A/T's. Muddies wouldnt be much use to you i dont think as you spend more time on than off road, the A/T's are pretty good anyway. They are a bit cheaper i think, but GoodYear Wrangler A/T's are just as good, BFG Goodrich are more popular. Cooper S/T's are also pretty good, i would go with the above before them. Matt

Are you looking at AT's or a set of muddies?

I agree with ACE .. AT's are more versatile but muddies will certainly take you further if you play in the dirt on a regular basis. Anycase, AT's or muddies .. BF's, Coopers or GY Wrangler would be my pick. I'll stick my neck out and vote for:

AT's -- Go for the Coopers S/T (more agrressive than the BF AT's)
Muddies -- BF's

Like ACE said I will probably spend more time on road the off (DAMM YOU RTA )
I guess I would have to lean to a decent set of AT's that'll get me into/out of what ever **** I get myself into.

I am a biased dunlop man, so good years would be my choice, seeing as they rated better in 4wd Monthly's tyre test than the dunlop grandtrek's. matt

Ace, was it an AT comparo in the 4wd monthly? How did they rate the Coopers S/T?

I've got a mate running Coopers S/T's on his Prado 3.0. Done 60k and they seem good for another 30k. Like Jason he also spends 90% onroad.
The Coopers S/T is something between an AT and a muddie .. so you get the best of both worlds.

Matt I prefer dunlop over goodyear aqua gliders anyday( and before the rest of you start with the sarcasim, yes the Aqua gliders would have been useful on that fateful day in december)
