Abbott says it won't be weeks, it'll be months perhaps many months

Abbott announcing our involvement in support to Iraq and Syria.
Abbott on the news said it would be months perhaps many months that Australia will get involved in Iraq and Syria . Yes Mr Abbott months , perhaps many months, who are you kidding, these sorts of things always end up as years, not months!

And why does Abbott always repeat the last words after each sentence.

Yep, its an open-ended commitment with an impossible aim. How long are we going to keep trying to drive IS terrorists back into Syria? What's to stop them just coming back again? How will we separate terrorist targets from the normal population? Air bombing of vehicles won't defeat IS.

IS is a terrible problem, but it's primarily a problem of countries in the region. Those regimes should be very afraid of IS. They will have to get serious about stopping the terrorists that some of them have actually fostered in the past, for example in fighting the Assad regime. Now the same fighters have turned on the region.

We should do what we can to help, particularly in humanitarian aid, but its not a problem in Australia's region. Getting involved against IS just makes it more likely that Australians will be kidnapped and executed in Iraq and Syria, as Americans and British have already been. By being so gung-ho our government has increased the threat of terrorist attacks against Australians and even in Australia.

    My opinion.

history has a habit of repeating itself...

When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

he is a spruiker.....and by iterating he thinks it secures his words in peoples minds.

its a common ploy by sales people and they are trained to do it.

notice how he uses "ahhh" as pregnant pauses giving listeners expectation to the next set of words.

1% below the speak from a conman if you ask me.

Just makes him seem like he has no idea what he's talking about if you ask me, just seems to be making it up as he goes. IMHO a PM should be a better public speaker

so anyway despite his inability to communicate properly, he has committed some of our sons and daughters to death.

I hope members of those units picked to be envolved by the ADF Commanders are given the opportunity to refuse the posting.

I was a soldier but I knew who my enemy was. Not knowing if Ahmed was a goat herder or an IS fighter would scare the **** out of me.

Some of our young population will rush the recruitment posts hoping to go over there to fight

They have plenty of time to train because it won't happen before my next birthday.

All politicians are conmen (sorry conpersons) just ask everyone out there walking the street in the nation.

History shows that no matter who the Prime Minister is or what political party they belonged to at least 50% of the nation will despise them, if not way more.

Few if any people like politicians no matter how well they govern the nation, but until the constitution can be changed which allows a dictator or our own appointed monarch (who will straight away be hated and despised as well) then we are stuck with the democracy that we have and the government that we vote in full well knowing what they stand for and what we were getting.

So folks just remember you voted for them and if not you more than likely voted for the other side last time when they were in power and everyone hated them as well.

Me, I don't vote so you can't blame me ...

going to war is always going to be a touchy subject politically. But you can't just sit around and watch as IS destroys its corner of the world as for all we know they might want to destroy every corner.

I agree Shanegtr we need to be on the front foot with this problem as it looks like it will only grow if not dealt with now
