Your most memorable Landy moment?

LandyAndy's thread on electrics just inspired this idea. What is you most memorable land rover moment.

Mine would have to be being woken up at 3 in the morning when i was a wee nipper to run out side with dad and see the Series III troopy we owned on fire. Dad got the fire out and a new dash board from the wrecker in coff harbour the next day. Tidied up the wiring (the cause of the blaze) and it was as good as new. Matt

Inflicting revenge on a mate(hilux owner)
Once went offroading in a mates hilux. He was being quite a hero trying to scare me and was doing a good job.I was seriously scared as I thought sooner or later he would tip it.Luckilly he didnt.
A few weeks later I was taking him for a run along the beach at Moore riverin my 88" softop(with a 186 motor). We saw a track up this sandhill where motorbikes had been playing.I told him the old girl would do that easy,no way he says you would be lucky to get up there on a bike.
There was no room on the beach for much of run up,so I gave it to her and we flew up this track all the way to the top.I stoped at the top, just as well as there was a nasty drop the other side.
It blew my mate away,he just couldnt belive it and was telling everyone about my Landy for weeks.
He tried the same track in his hilux the next day,the best he could do was 1/2 way

I found my Rangie on Carsales.com.au in Victoria and bought it sight unseen. My Dad who has a P38 Rangie, drove it up to Brisbane for me (like I had to twist his arm) without a hitch.

The very first time I drove it we only went out for about half an hour.

When we got home it was parked in the drive way and we were standing there admiring it (as you do ) and coolant started pi$$ing out from underneath.

I thought FANTASTIC, what sort of lemon have I bought here ??? 8O

My most memorable moment with the disco, was when i first had it out with my local club. We were attacking this rather steep slippery climb, after two attempts we could only get half way up. Before the 3rd attempt we checked the tyres, by this stage Stacey is as white as a ghost. After deciding 45psi wasnt conducive to getting up the hill we let them down to 25psi and we went straight up. Before we went up the hill one of the other members informed me quitely, as to not alarm Stacey, that there was diesel ****ing all over the ground underneath. Once we were at the top, it was found that there was diesel leaking from around the top of the lift pump. Some steel putty later we were good to go. Even with the fuel leak i still had the best fuel consumption there. Matt
