    First World Tips

Can openers have always bugged me. I never seem to be able to get all the way around the can without leaving a stubborn bit that won't open. Lately, it has been one bit on each side making it even more difficult to get the lid off. I'm ashamed to say that I've been doing it wrong...I'm a clockwise can opener handle turner...a CCOHT in the First World Designations Register. I just found out that if I turn the handle ANTICLOCKWISE, the lid comes off in one piece first go. I know, it feels wrong, the can spins the wrong way, but it seems to work. This post is community service for the benefit of any other CCOHT designees out there.

Thanks for that, it explains all my problems with can openers. I even bought some you beut European designed one in January and I'm still having trouble. My brother just uses his leatherman in the kitchen.
    Thanks

Try mike's tip because it might be left hand drive.

Absolutely, I used FREDs in the kitchen for a long time because they worked well. I have a Magican now which is excellent.
    Cheers

Unfortunately, I've never had access to military grade foolproof can openers with gentleman names. I've just been bumbling around using stuff supplied by my wife. I have given them names though, but not very polite ones.

Had to laugh, I just Googled FRED, coz I'm not in the loop as far those things go, and Discovered that there is an opener which goes by the name of a P38.

I should probably get out more...........
