Actually that's nothing more than a young buck challenging the dominant male, for control of the " harem ". Each dominant male has a number of females, and controls an area he call his own. Seen it happen numerous times, out west, back in the day. Never seen it in a suburban street. Another trick the big red has, is if dogs are chasing him, he will look for water, if possible. A creek, water hole, when the dog comes in after him, he grabs it by the " arms", and rips its stomach open with the claws on his legs. You learn to get no closer to a big dominant red, than 303 sights. Bob
