The Woman's Weekly will be promoting the seventeen day diet, in the issue following the story.

    And another bit of info.
The time you can last also depends on your body fat reserves. In these circumstances a over weight person can actually survive much longer than a really fit and lean person, provided they have water. After a period the body will start metabolizing fat reserves in people that have them, hence the 17kg weight loss of this woman. In a fit person with no fat reserves it will actually start metabolizing muscle mass and they can deteriorate quickly.
The problem is this can occur and so called that are doubting the story should perhaps back off a bit as every circumstance is different. Les Hiddens may be able to survive in the bush, but I doubt has actually been in too many post incident scenarios. The reality is most people are found no that far from their initial point of getting lost. Everyone says it is easy to find their way out, for some yes, for others no, so we should not really judge.

Having lost 30+ kg of weight in a relatively short-ish time, with long fasts being part of the process (then and even now) it is possible to comfortably go without food and not feel hungry, if you have adequate spare fat.

Obesity is only one of many behaviours that has a strong emotional component, in this case mostly sub-conscious. I would not be surprised to learn - if we ever get "100%" of the full story - that there were personal/emotional factors in being 'lost' for so long, and seemingly making bad decisions that kept her away from rescue...
The above is without any sense of moral judgement against the woman concerned.
    Bonus is in the weight-reduction.!

When we first moved to Ravenshoe I had all sorts of trouble working out which direction I was going.
Never had that problem around Doomadgee.
I put it down to the hills & mountains of which there are a lot around Ravenshoe, Doomadgee is kind of flat.
Maybe it's not the hills but the sun?
When we first went to Ravenshoe I thought the sun was setting in the South.
It is quiet off putting when this happens.
A mate of mine came to visit (also from the Gulf Country) & he had the same problem, I could be a smart arse by then & tell him he was thick because I had got used to it.

I have that problem whenever I go to Bundaberg can never work out east from west . Lucky I now have a satnav. When I worked a Ravenshoe though which was a couple of times a year I never had a problem. Ravenshoe is Gods country especially the road down to the dam.

Qld cops wrap-up missing woman case - 9news.com.au

"He said it was likely Ms Fraser had travelled outside of the search area."

    That's rather stating the obvious.
