    No cut guards.

The fire season started here a few weeks back. We had our first bushfire of the season earlier this month.
I heard on the radio the CFS (SA country fire service) declared the start of their fire season early.
I suspect we are in for a long hot one. I suspect another drought is starting/has started.

But, Inc, is that a 'station wagon' sign under the rear land rover roundel?

we are stepping up the training again and have done our burnover drills etc
in preparation for the oncoming season.. looks like it will be hot here.

Two days ago went to paddock fire that got into crop and about 100 round bales of hay, farmer tried to make 'last stand' to stop it crossing into crop and bales and was fighting it with a shovel. Bad burns to hands, arm, shoulder neck and face, they brought the chopper in to medivac him out but it flipped a gearbox sensor before takeoff and spent the night on the road!!

Brought the other chopper in to take him out. On way home from that called to generator shed fire in gully country small shed down to ground but owner smart enough to contain it not take it on.

yep.. long couple years ahead and this state is just getting ready to merge all the emergency services (against everyones will), theyve bumped up the emergency services levy by a huge amount that isnt being used to support the emergency services (which they readily admit) ..

The minister in charge of all this was told that with the ESL lift and the changes coming in along with a flat refusal to equally cover CFS like MFS for cancers etc theyd lose a lot of volunteers, to which he replied, thats OK we'll just get more!!!

It will be a long year on and off the fireground!

Hope that everyone has a cool uneventful season!

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
