    Wanted: Alternatives to PayPal

    G'day all!
After getting more and more fed up with PayPal I am seriously considering quitting my account for good and finding other means of transferring money around the globe. Does anyone of you have an acceptable alternative to recommend?
Obviously, PayPal are the "market leader" in their business, but there might be another actor around, doing similar things but better, I have yet to learn about. I appreciate that PayPal has its merits, but there are some serious draw backs, hence me looking for a better solution. So, if you can give me some advice it will be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Johannes

I tend not to use any of them, either as a seller or as a buyer.

But I do know someone who speaks highly of ProPay. Apparently it's one of the few alternatives to Paypal that eBay will also accept.
    Cheers .........

The rates are still not good, after all how much does it cost to launder a bit of money, inc starch and a press?

Paypal annoy the crap out of me because they seeit as their place to moralise as well as offer a market service.

They will not 'allow' paypal to be used for any firearm related transactions.

For example, donation to assist in the running of a hunting forum.

    ******.

The sad thing is that if you want to deal with many O/seas businesses, Paypal is really the only option these days.

there are no really viable alternatives at this time

    imho

as a purchaser of goods best you can do is always use paypal via a credit card

as a seller of digital goods, all you can do is bend over and prepare to be reamed.

    Why the credit card?

I went to send some money the other day and it said there was a bigger charge if I used a credit card as opposed to paypal balance / bank account debit.

The other REALLY stupid issue I've had with paypal is that my wife and I both have paypal accounts but have a shared bank account. Paypal won't let us both link our paypal accounts to the one bank account.

Alibaba are about to launch in Australia.
They have alipay, their version of paypal.
I havent looked into it, but might be worth a peek.....?
Alibaba (according to smh) turned over $248billion last year, more than eb@y + am@zon (i.e. combined) so they have the market presence.

What you need to know about Alibaba as the e-commerce giant launches in Australia

Hopefully put some pressure on eb@y.....
esp now they apply their fees to item price AND freight costs (since april).
How much of a dent in the profit margin would shipping an item from nsw to wa make?
    sell only on east coast?
