This sort of setup is fairly standard over here in the UK. That hitch is a 3.5t Dixon Bate jaw. Behind the bumper, there is a thick spreader plate which the pin is bolted through to.
All the Camels have them fitted (a pair on the front) and usually a 5t Dixon Bate jaw on the rear. One of the things they used them for on the Trophy (other than as a strong recovery point) is to tow a disabled vehicle on an 'A' Frame. Each vehicle carried a draw bar with a ring at either end - Take the one form the disabled vehicle & the one from the towing vehicle then "Hey Presto!" you now have an instant A frame. 8)
As a little asside... I hope you realise that the chassis legs are only designed to take 4t :!:
