How are the MTR's running on the defender. I should have a set in a week or so depending on supply. Are yours coping well and are you still happy with their purchase.
This could be a good thread to compare tyre types based on what people are actually using. For instance the bloke here at the tyre shop says he wouldnt touch BFG AT's with a barge poll. He reckons they have horrednous toe in problems??????????
BB how are yours handling everyday driving, have they suffered damage etc.
cheers
Mick

The July 2004 issue of "Land Rover World" says the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R are the tyres chosen to equip the G4 challenge vehicles as they were tested and can cope with the range of varying condition encountered. It will be interesting to see whether BB's (and anyone else's) experience matches with this.
And yeah the new Cooper STT's look impressive and are due to be reviewed in the upcoming edition of Australian 4wd Monthly, I understand.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

good old tyre debate

which is best ?????
my thoughts are it all depends on how much road versus off road driving
your tyre's are going to be doing
i use the pirelli scorpions as my road tyre and dry 4wd only
they have been great tyre's and not to expensive
and last along time
when i go serious 4wd i put the simex 35inET on
130's rule
Ok first up see the story in rants and yarns.
I was with out the Fender for a while because of other problems.
But the Wranglers are going great.
Dont a bit of sand driving in them and havnt found them to dig down because of the agressive tread.
No mud up here so that will have to wait a while yet.
Rock hopping has been few and far between but did ONCE(oh yay) and with slightly lower pressure(25psi) they worked a treat.
ON ROAD
I can feel they are there and hear them,
But they grip and I havnt felt unsafe with them on road yet.
Havnt had a wet road up here to try them on but will see what happens next cyclone.

Oh you mean the cyclone.
Well normally when they arrive they bring loads of rain, in 5 minutes we can get enough to turn the dust to slush.
So THEN I will be able to try out the wet roads and the slushy mud.
Comprende Pedro

Beautifull, sounds good then. I was reading on discoweb that a lot of those yanks were complaining about skidding under brakes using MTR's. I asked the tyre shops in town here about the new Cooper STT but no one stocks them. The general opinion was that theyre a good tyre but not worth the extra dosh. The opinion on BFG muddies was interesting aswell. Again thought of as a good tyre but they reckon the heat in the roads up here chews the crap out of the rubber compound really quickly. Leading to premature (for a muddie) wear. Well its definately going to be the MTR's im gonna hassle the bloke again tomorrow, he's hinted he may be able to get his hands on some from another store for me.
cheers

I had 35 x 12.5 x 15 on my old series 3 and loved them. I got them reletively soon after they came out and loved them. Wore very well on the road and had heaps of grip off road. They work very well on rock but can clag up moreso in mud when compares to BFG and the like. They are quite soft but expect to get about 30k - 50k out of them depending how you drive.
Good compromise for road / agressive off road with out going to the more hardcore swamper / simex / claws etc.
Dave.
