Thread: The Top 5 Regrets Before Dying.

I have no regrets in my life so far.


Yes, I have made some bad decisions, done & said things that I shouldn't have & not lived life as well as I probably could have.


But I have had an interesting life so far with lots of ups & downs, some love, little hate & many frustrations.


About every 10 years my life seems to change radically, usually by my choice, & if it works it works & that's great, it does make life interesting.


As long as I learn & accept the new I'm going OK>

PS Keeping in touch with old friends is pretty silly if your interests & attitudes change over the years.

That is a very good point.

I had a bit more of a cogitate on this...

• I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expect of me

I have always lived my life to my morals and code of ethics. My expectations of others has often left me feeling disappointed and I'm sure that I have been seen wanting on many occasions too.


But I am who I am, and will continue to be true to me...

• I wish I didn't work so hard.

The challenges of my work have always helped feed my ongoing thirst to learn more and more. With hard work I find achievement. If I can be the best at what I do then I feel an inner satisfaction.

I have missed a few opportunities due to working hard but have reaped the fruits of my labours.

Whether helping others or myself, contributing has benefits for everyone.

• I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings

Burnt many a time for expressing how I feel, but refuse to change that behaviour. A spade is a spade, I call it how I see it... Does that cause challenges - absolutely - but you'll know where I stand.

Do I tell my wife, kids, family and friends that I love them often enough? No... I don't think one can ever express that enough. I hope they understand how important they are in my life.

• I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends

I've always said I'd rather a few close friends than a large social group and I stick to that. Friends have come and gone, and at the time were enjoyable to have their company in my life.


As times changed and interests diverged the friendships came to an end. That's not to say we wouldn't be friendly, just that we no longer have that contact. I have not caught up with any friends from my school years or Navy days in over 20 years. I have no intention to.

• I wish that I had let myself be happier

Through life I have had moments of unhappiness, I call them experiences.
They have shaped my life and who I am. I am thankful for the bad as it helped me appreciate the good even more.

I have no regrets per say, I may have treated some relationships a bit better at their end perhaps.

I certainly have enjoyed the variety my life has provided. And that makes me happy! Overcoming challenges is empowering.

I regret not making a record when I was in a band in the mid 70's.

I regret getting cross with my Mum when she had Dementia and made a mess which I cleared up just for her to make the same mess again.....

Dave, going GA is the most expensive and least fun way of doing it... After 3 hours with 2 GA schools... I went RA-Aus

Cheaper, more fun, better fundamentals training IMHO, and if you believe CASA,, the plane I'm learning on is the aviation equivalent of "reliable" Land - Rovers....

I feel quite at home !

Thanks but no thanks. You would not get me in one of those things for quids.

I know you probably have some stats saying how safe they are but I hear/read of too many of those things crashing.

Crikey, They are all a bit dark?.

I thought it was going to be stuff like "Shoulda gone home with that girl?"

I think people's memories are like the internet, it's only when things are Crook that you post it up. When Life is great you are too busy enjoying it to remember to remember it?.

I think if you sat down and wrote all the really great things that happened to you it would be a pretty nice exercise.

Leave all the bad stuff out? Nobody really cares about it except you?..

That's just my approach to a life that hasn't been without speed humps but is scripted in hindsight with all the nice sweeping bends and long straight roads in a V8 with "That girl" in the passenger seat.
