Having owned one for 32 years I wouldn't quite agree. Because half the car folds forward engine access is very good and access to most other bits is the same as any other car.
Like Landrover - you need to know where to get your parts and then parts pricing is not too bad. As with LR parts, importing from the UK is often easiest and cheapest.
