There's an auto elec in Bendigo who won't work on landrovers as they're too complicated - 'so no can-bus is to complicated? ' I asked him. And then he admitted a 200 series alternator takes 3 hours to get to. ..

I get really shirty if a 'mechanic' tells me they don't work on landrover because it's a landy. But if they've an attitude like that I wouldn't trust them to work on my car.
If they admit they don't know a lot about landys that's a whole different issue.

There's a good rad place in Bendigo, he owns a d1 himself.

Is it reasonable to expect any mechanic to be competent across the breadth of product in the marketplace to day, and maybe we need to give credit to those who recognize their limitations.

For example on an older Rolls its a real bastard or change the spark plugs, OR, you can remove a front wheel and an inspection plate to do it easily.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

At least with the 200 you don't have to take the front diff out like a 79 series. Pat
