First of all - I can't believe this thread is still going on.

Secondly, until recently I was one of the administrators on a Defender Facebook page. I posted up the link to the 3 and 5 dams challenge here in WA to let anyone know who may have been planning a day 4wding in the hills to be patient as they were likely to encounter large groups of cyclists as there were about 2,000 of us participating. Not a single negative comment.

At the end of the day, I posted up about some of the Defender's I saw whilst on the ride. A few people engaged and another member on the page who participated in the 5 Dams Challenge also commented. Again not a single negative comment.

    That is respect.

Quite true. You could almost call it Unaustralian not to laugh at people actually getting hurt. Even better to pretend to shoot and kill people for fun. Quite hilarious, you know, to do "pretend" violence. Just like bullying is fun for the bullies. And it's clearly not intended to make boof heads laugh uproariously as they buzz another cyclist just minding their own business. Rofl. It's almost as funny as this picture:

No-one hurt here, must be almost-top grade humour too. Have a happy day.

I then started joking with him about how he had destroyed my sleeping bag and made us late, amongst other things. until the chopper took him away. That's levity. I have done the same in similar situations on a few occasions now, and it always seems to be beneficial.
Yes that is showing respect and appropriate levity. Nice one. An entirely different situation.

That applies to both Cyclists and Drivers.
Rubbish. It's not about simply lightening up over serious, dangerous and offensive issues. That's Trumps core tactic by the way, but we won't even go there.

This is not funny! This is a serious matter! That cyclist could've died! I mean, seriously, that motorist should've seen him coming and got out of the way!

    Keeping it simple is complicated.
