I know for a fact that there are plenty of people out there with car licences, who can't see over the crest of hills or around blind corners for that matter. I think that you should spread the word to fellow cyclists, they may be riding around not knowing about these shortcomings?
is that suggesting cyclists have a higher iq than motorists?
Maybe not IQ as such, but both cyclists - and motor cyclists have much more awareness of their surroundings be it on their bikes or in their cars than those that have never ridden either on the road IMO. It comes from the self preservation instinct you need to survive riding on the road - always assume the cars are trying to kill you at all times. I've always ridden like this, and (touches wood) I'm still able to because of this.
Personally I think everyone should get their motor bike licence before a car licence and we would be much better off - all the dickheads would get themselves killed and everyone else would have much more respect for those road users that choose alternate means to 4 wheels, be it unpowered or powered.
Problem solved.... Geez, I'm on a roll tonight - I'm solving all the worlds problems!!!![]()

Motorbikes aren't a problem .... In theory there is no speed differential. I've ridden bikes on roads for years. I've never felt the need to wear lycra or lane share. ... or generally do my best to **** motorists off and defy the laws of physics though.
I figure there the sort of people that will buy a house next to a race track ... then complain bitterly about the noise and try to get the racetrack closed ...... You know ... really "not smart" people.

I think the attitude that comes with lane sharing is the same sort of pack attitude you get when a group of guys go out on the town together. It's not an attitude I buy into so I choose to ride solo. Besides it's much harder to do a 100km solo ride than it is to sit in a pack and draft for 90kms. As for lycra it's nothing to do with fashion or being pretentious and entirely to do with comfort. For the record I wear black shorts and whatever colour shirts are on special at Anaconda. I do not own a single badged cycling shirt.
