Given the way they hand out extraordinary licenses for the flimsiest reasons your point is...

I would have thought that was obvious. A bike rack on the Commodore.

Happens a lot until they get caught numerous times and imprisoned.

Just like a motorist who drives unlicensed. Just like a motorcyclist who rides unlicensed.

Interestingly, on the weekend a couple of youngsters were out riding on their pit bikes. They were watching me. I was watching them. When I had passed, they crossed from the RHS of the road where they were riding to the LHS, made a left turn and powered off up the street.

Has an interesting experience this arvo on the South Perth foreshore. There is a pedestrian path and a bicycle path.

Got a mouthful from 3 Lycra clad fellows on the pedestrian path because I did not get out of their way.

Absolutely tossers. Signs clearly marked no bikes all down the path but these tossers felt appropriate to give me a mouthful.

Might run over the next one I see ;-)

Proving that tossers aren't restricted to cycling?

Be careful of what you say in jest, the next arrogant cyclist you meet may just be the Prime Minister of Australia.

The comment is typical of the sort that incrementally makes things worse for the large percentage of safe riders out there, by enticing morons to "have a go' at knocking one off. Shame on you, if you are actually an Australian.

Reading comprehension fail. I was writing about motorists who lost their licenses. Who continue to drive anyway because they have just as much contempt for the law as some cyclists that go out of their way to personally annoy you.

Once again you just don't get it. Registration/licensing of cyclists is no magic bullet that will solve your little problems. If it did someone somewhere on this planet would be doing it.

Certainly in jest. I give them a wide berth on the roads as I ride too. But as the preceding posts show its a two way street....but I don't see it often.

I suspect quite a few Aussies would actually have a real go at running over that particular cyclist

It's all getting a bit serious in this thread

On a happy note, living in Adelaide as I do. there has been the usual annual explosion of cyclists on the road at this time of the year because of the tour down under. I've been watching in my travels, and to be honest I've only seen good behaviour from both cyclists and motorists. It is actually nice to see both sides being patient with each other because as far as I'm concerned both sides are equally responsible for the way it is 'out there'.
