So, when is licensing and registration being introduced for cyclists and bicycles?

Lets just pretend for a moment that this particular hobby horse of yours hasn't been beaten to death and explore a few scenarios.

Car drivers obtain a automatic or manual license. In WA a manual license gives you the right to drive an automatic vehicle without an additional test. To be fair, they should have to sit another test.

Then we have the situation in WA that you don't require any additional testing to drive a larger car or larger engined car. We better fix that too. So now you should need to get a license for say a 2L, 3L, 4L, 5L and greater than 5L. Both automatic and manual for each class as they are 2 different types of vehicle.

Now lets look at towing. If your vehicle has a towbar you can tow anything up to the legal limit of your vehicle. So what different categories do we need here? Single axle, double axle, triple axle, braked, unbraked. The categories are endless. Think of how many grey nomads we could clear off our roads because they hold up truck drivers pootling along at 80km hour in a 100km zone. Automatic fail you can't demonstrate you can drive at the legal posted limit.

By the time you've finished paying for all this you'll be hoping they don't bring in bicycle licensing because that's all you'll be able to afford.

You pay a one off for the training and testing to get the endorsement. At least, that is what happened when I got my HR.
What you have posted is not truthful.

Oh, as it stands today, if you cycled through four red lights within a year and were caught on those four occasions, you can still ride a bicycle. If "bicycle" was an endorsement on the license (i.e. you had a bicycle license), in that example you would lose the privilege to ride. That might make cyclists respect the road rules more and, hopefully, bring the cyclist death rate down.

Loneranger check our L and P plate rules regarding both car power and motorbike power
They pay on time and experience. If you have a hr, car and motorbike license, you loose all 3 if you break the road rules. On a bike you can ignore them with virtually no penalty .

Obviously the law has drawn the line between push bikes and motorised vehicles.
Let's move or remove the line.
Put it between pedestrians and push bikes?
Remove it all together?
Then we have the situation where pedestrians can lose points from their license for jaywalking, crossing against the lights etc. (perhaps they already can?) - what happens if they lose all their points - no driving, no cycling, no disability scooters, no skateboards and even banned from walking on footpaths and roadways?
Losing their drivers license doesn't stop a lot of disqualified drivers from driving.

All too hard for the legislators and enforcers, methinks.
Mick, I don't think bicycle licenses or registration will ever happen. Never.
No matter how useful it might be or not. And I agree there may be some merits in it.

BTW, have you taken your bicycle license and registration matters up with your politicians and the law enforcers. Taken it beyond this topic on AULRO. Or are you just enjoying keeping the pot stirred on here?

Obviously sarcasm is something you don't understand.

In all seriousness though I think you should have to hold an endorsement before you can tow and the potential to cause damage or loss of life is far greater with some idiot towing a 3tonne caravan and having no idea than if you put the same idiot on a bicycle.
