As they should. Did you read the articles I posted.

    What's good for the goose.............
That somes up the value of your commentary in here. Its one of the stupidist things I think I've read on this forum. I would have expected as a moderator you'd be better than this rubbish. Drivers with that attitude should be removed from the road permanently.
    Cheers

I think you've missed the point here Slunnie. Just for the record, I have no issue with cyclists, maybe they're more considerate in Queensland.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Predictable and disrespectful responses from the usual suspects. We're not talking about pedestrians. We're talking about cars and bicycles. Obviously if a cyclist hits a pedestrian it's a serious problem for the pedestrian. If a cyclist hits a car? Please. Dooring of cyclists is a serious issue. If you do it to me you won't get off lightly I can tell you now.

Cheers Slunnie, well said and agreed. Moderators in motor vehicle forums should think seriously about peddling dangerous thinking when it comes to respecting more vulnerable road users.

I don't think Mick was peddling dangerous thinking. Neither do I think he has been dismissive towards Cyclists.
I think that he's trying to point out that the Laws apply equally to all.
I am a cyclist and a driver too and I can see where he's coming from. I'm a bit slow and sometimes get in the way of these apparently crazed MAMIL types who think they have to race every where they go. They shoulder you out of the way give you gobs full of abuse and speed off to there next victim.
They can't share the road, they can't share a cycle way and they can't share a shared zone. In my experience there are way too many of them and they give Cyclists a bad name.
    Cheers, Billy.
    Keeping it simple is complicated.

Yeah, but it could be said your response here is predictable and disrespectful too - it goes both ways, which is what Mick was pointing out - something you seem incapable of understanding.

I think the problem is that there are some people on here who would be more upset about their broken wing mirror than the cyclist that they've smashed up and deposited in the gutter.

I think that is completely wrong. Both myself and many others here that have been seen by some here as cyclist haters because of some of our views on the extremists are very respectful of cyclists on the road and even cycle themselves.

I do both, but my views on some here and their blatant one sided behaviour is what ticks me off. I also know how to climb down off my soapbox and enjoy myself from time to time. Maybe some here need a set of steps for theirs...

Don't know t you but, as a cyclist, I'd be more concerned about the pedestrian I've put in hospital with a cracked rib.
That is why I always ride at around walking pace when riding on the footpath.
    Why the rush?

Obviously from the article that stretch of road is not suitable for cyclists , this should be recognised and appropriate bans put in place. For many motorists and cyclists high traffic, delivery vehicles, trams and lots of pedestrians create to many things to look out for. In most minds their arse comes first so the cyclist is last on the long list of hazards😉.
So in the best interests of all put a diversion for cyclists around that street, just as we do for pedestrians malls etc
