Thread: Darwin 1974, just after the cyclone, and now

Cyclone Tracey was one of those events that you remember what you were doing on that day, it sticks in your mind.

I flew in 2 days after - was a bit of a shock to the system.

the 2nd prawn trawler I worked on when I started my fishing career was one that sunk in cyclone Tracey and was raised and renamed.
Lost 6 crew when it went down. Was it haunted... You bet it was..

It took until 2005 for the Coroner to officially find people died at sea, and officially issue death certificates to the families. Perhaps the ghosts are at rest now, Bob.

They weren't bad ghosts, but they used to scare the crap out of you when they were moving about especially when you were half asleep at 3am.


Hopefully they are at peace.
